What Is Fetch By The Dodo Pet Insurance?

The former name of Fetch by the Dodo pet insurance was Petplan. It was only in January of 2022 when the company instigated this change.

Numerous pet owners tend to get overwhelmed with the details of pet insurance, and Fetch created an ideal solution for this. Basically, pet insurance is straightforward and simple with this provider.

Only one policy is offered by Fetch, and yet it covers a good number of illnesses and accidents that might be encountered by your pet.

Nonetheless, wellness coverage is not included, but Fetch offers a wide array of perks that you can consider.

Company Information

Established in 2003, Fetch by the Dodo used to be called Petplan. Its owners, a young couple, created their company based on their unpleasant experience with the health of their pet. When their cat got sick, they unexpectedly incurred $5,000 for their veterinarian bill.

Due to this, the couple devised a plan that covers the accident and illness needs of cats and dogs, that, in turn protects pet owners financially when unforeseen events take place.

The single pet insurance policy designed by Fetch is currently sold in the United States and Canada, and this is underwritten by the XL Specialty Insurance Company.

What Are The Features Of Fetch Pet Insurance?

There are a variety of ways to customize your plan with this provider. You can choose your own combinations from among three deductibles, three annual limits and three levels of reimbursements.

Should adverse events happen, the company will cover them, such as boarding fees when your pet gets admitted in the hospital or if your trip gets canceled because they got sick.

On the Fetch website, you’ll find a huge selection of online resources, including pet health information articles and an insurance provider comparison tool.

You’ll have no worries about the health and medical network that will treat your dog or cat because you can practically visit any licensed vet in the United States and Canada.

Offering only a single policy, you do not have the option to augment your benefits. Coverage for preventive care is not included and benefits for older animals are restricted. If your dog or cat is more than 6 years of age, it is required to go through a veterinary exam within 30 days prior to, or following the start date of your policy.

Younger pets, on the other hand, should take the said exam within the last 12 months.

If your pet is above 6 years old and dies because of an illness, Fetch will not reimburse your expenses.

Why Fetch Stands Apart From The Competition

Fetch by the Dodo differs from its competition because it offers only a single plan. Optional riders for supplemental coverage are omitted.

If your dog or cat gets treated for an injury or illness (most sort of which are covered by your Fetch plan), your expenses will be reimbursed, especially for its diagnostic tests, exam fees, prescriptions and treatment.

The pricing of this provider is reasonable and straightforward because it sells merely a single policy. In terms of your monthly premiums, you’ll be charged according to the breed, age and location of your pet other than your preferred limit, deductible and reimbursement.

Upon getting a policy, you should wait for 15 days for it to become effective. If your pet experiences symptoms before the effectivity date or during the waiting period, it is known to be a pre-existing condition, and not covered by the policy.

There are two different annual limits available from Fetch, and they are $5,000 and $15,000 respectively. In addition to this, and the costliest option, is the unlimited annual benefits.

Conclusion

Fetch by the Dodo is a practical choice for your pet insurance. The single policy it offers is easy to understand and straightforward. However, you can opt to customize your plan while you adjust your coverage levels.

Caring for your pet becomes prudent and economical with Fetch pet insurance.
